In the midst of all the things I've had going on, I have managed to maintain some semblance of a social life. Hazelnut is coming to sleep over tonight (whoo hoo!), and I'm sure we will have many exciting discussions on metaphysical topics. I know she recently learned some new things about Therians she wanted to share with me. I haven't gotten to see her in weeks, so I'm really looking forward to it!
Also, it's just a couple of weeks until this year's World of Faeries festival! The Faery Fest is steampunk-themed this year, so I put together a Time Faery costume, complete with watches, a Time-Turner (complements of Harry Potter), and eventually a couple of my dad's pocket watches.

This is just a preliminary picture; adjustments to the costume will still be made. You cannot see them in this image, but I am wearing pale green faery wings in the back.

I finished the final book of a quartet that I've been rereading today, one that I feel may be of interest to the Pagan community. As my preferred genre, the books are, of course, fantasy, but I feel that they touch on that Pagan spirit that is so entrancing about good literature. Book one is called The Naming, by Allison Croggon. It is the story of Maerad, a slave girl who is rescued from her misery by Cadvan, a mysterious Bard, possessing magical powers. He realizes that she too is a Bard, and may, indeed, be even more. Book two is The Riddle, book three is The Crow, and book four is The Singing. The books talk about the importance of balance, the magic of music, elemental powers, and more. I found them beautiful works with an entrancing plot, even if the ending was, perhaps, a touch predictable.
